BBC Worldwide Showcase Latin America Announces Programming Roster and Talent Line-Up for 9th Annual Event in Rio De Janeiro

Featured talent includes Kayne Raymond from No Kitchen Required and Jimmy Doherty from Jimmy’s Forest

New York, NY – BBC Worldwide America’s 9th annual BBC Worldwide Showcase Latin America will feature a spectacular line-up of new shows in addition to its revered catalog of over 50,000 hours of first-class content. This year’s event will also include appearances by special guests, Kayne Raymond, star of the exotic competition show, No Kitchen Required, and world-travelling farmer, Jimmy Doherty from Jimmy’s Forest,Jimmy’s Food Factory, Jimmy’s Global Harvestwho will share their experiences working on their respective shows. Broadcasters and digital buyers from across Latin America will take part in the three day event, which is the region’s only television market hosted by a single distributor. The event will run from Sunday, August 26th through Tuesday, August 28th at the Windsor Atlantica Hotel in Copacabana.

This year, BBC Worldwide Americas will present a massive line-up of exciting and exhilarating dramas that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.  In drama, the critically-acclaimed Call the Midwife, based on the best-selling memoirs of Jennifer Worth, is a moving and intimate story of midwifery in London’s East End in the 1950s. The first season follows a young Jenny Lee as she and her fellow midwives, attached to an order of nursing nuns, navigate the crowded East End streets teeming with children, workers and a culture remarkably different from the wealthy English countryside where Jenny was raised. Initially shocked by the health and living conditions of the East End, Jenny soon learns to admire the families she works with, along with the sisters and fellow midwives who witness the daily drama of life in this vibrant community.

In the lifestyle genre, BBC Worldwide presents an original adventure cooking competition series, No Kitchen Required, which follows three chefs as they are dropped into the most exotic and remote places on earth. There they must work with the locals to hunt, fish and forage for ingredients to create locally-inspired meals that will be judged by the communities. The three fearless chefs Michelin-starred restauranteur, Michael Psilakis, first-ever Chopped Grand Champion, Mad Cowan, and renowned New Zealand chef, Kayne Raymond. The fearless chefs are dropped into ten locations around the world including Dominica, New Zealand, Belize, Fiji, Chiang Dao – Thailand, Koh Lanta – Thailand, Hawaii, New Mexico, Louisiana and Florida.  The series ishosted by British presenter, Dr. Shini Somara, who joinsthe chefs on the adventure.

In the natural history category, this year’s adventure-filled fare includes South American Journey with Jonathan Dimblebywhich takes viewers on a journey from the Andes to the Amazon, from thriving cities to the slopes of dramatic mountains and deepest jungles, the host meets the people who are building the new South America and examines the impact of these changes on the countries there – and on the rest of the world.
