BBC Worldwide Productions and Adjacent Productions Sweep the Emmys® with 12 nominations

Dancing with the Stars Receives Nine Nods, the Most of any Nonfiction Program

Honors Include Outstanding Reality-Competition Program; Tom Bergeron as Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program

Da Vinci’s Demons Nominated in Three Categories for Premiere Season

Los Angeles, CA – BBC Worldwide Productions’ Dancing with the Stars, received nine 65th Primetime Emmy® Award nominations, the most of any nonfiction program this year. The announcement was made today by the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences. This is the eighth consecutive year that the show has received a nomination in the Outstanding Reality-Competition Program category.

Additionally, Dancing with the Stars’ host and veteran television personality, Emmy® winning Tom Bergeron, was nominated in the Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program category for the fourth year in a row. Dancing with the Stars’ professional ballroom dancer and choreographer, Derek Hough, received two nominations this year for his work on Dancing with the Stars. Hough has now received a total of 5 nominations in the Outstanding Choreography category since the show’s inception.  Hector Ramirez received a nomination for his work in the Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Series category, helping usher him to a new record of 71 career nominations – the most of any individual in Emmy® history.

Da Vinci’s Demons, produced by Adjacent Productions, received three Creative Arts nominations from the Television Academy for its premiere season on Starz.

Dancing with the Stars is the U.S. version of the BBC’s international smash hit series, Strictly Come Dancing, where celebrities are paired with professional ballroom dance instructors and compete for a coveted Mirrorball trophy. Dancing with the Stars is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions for ABC.  The fan-favorite has garnered 64 Emmy® nominations and ten wins since its inception, breaking the Emmy® record in 2009, 2012 and 2013 for the most nominations for a non-fiction program in a single award year. DWTS has also been honored with various main program awards including the GLAAD Media Award, NAACP Award, Realscreen Award, Imagen Award, and two People’s Choice Awards. Veteran host, Tom Bergeron has also been honored with two Critics Choice Awards in addition to taking home the 64th Primetime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Host. Dancing with the Stars premieres its 17th season on ABC September 16th.

Da Vinci’s Demons is produced by Adjacent Productions for Starz and is David Goyer’s historical fantasy, following the “untold” story of the world’s greatest genius during his raucous youth in Renaissance Florence.  Brash and brilliant, the twenty five-year old da Vinci is an artist, inventor, swordsman, lover, dreamer and idealist.  As a free thinker, with intellect and talents that are almost superhuman, he struggles to live within the confines of his own reality and time.  He begins to not only see the future, but invent it.  With more than 2.14 Million total viewers on the opening weekend, Da Vinci’s Demons established a new all-time high for a STARZ Original series premiere. The series is currently in production on season two.
