BBC Worldwide North America Promotes Christine Black to SVP, Communications and Events

New York, NY – BBC Worldwide North America announced today the promotion of Christine Black to Senior Vice President, Communications and Events.  Reporting into Herb Scannell, President, BBC Worldwide North America, she will also be part of the global BBC Worldwide communications team.

As SVP, Christine will be responsible for driving the communications and events strategy for BBC Worldwide in the U.S. and Canada. With teams in New York and Los Angeles, Christine will oversee key initiatives for BBC.com, BBC Worldwide Productions, sales and co-productions, licensing and consumer products business divisions and corporate communications.   She will also sit on the BBC Worldwide North America Executive Board.

Christine has a wealth of knowledge and experience across multiple disciplines.   She joined the company in 2004 as Director, Public Relations for BBC America where she was instrumental in the channel’s award strategy (5 Golden Globes®, 10 Peabody Awards).  In 2007, she was promoted to VP, Communications, BBC Worldwide where she worked across all of the company’s business divisions in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.  While in this role, she oversaw the development of BBC AMERICA’s significant presence at Comic-Con featuring global phenomenon, Doctor Who, spearheaded the channel’s annual Upfront event and recently launched BBC.com FUTURE’s inaugural World-Changing Ideas Summit. Prior to joining BBC Worldwide, Christine was publicity manager for SCIFI.com and USA Network and produced live events for Bounce Event Marketing and U.S. Concepts.
