BBC Studios and Globo Group Strike Deal for Over 200 Hours of Exclusive Content Including Doctor Who on Globoplay
Deal Includes Exclusive PayTV and SVoD Rights For Seasons One Through Eleven Plus Upcoming Season 12 of Doctor Who
Other Major BBC Studios Titles Include MotherFatherSon Starring Richard Gere, Bold Comedy-Drama Pure, and Press From Writer of Doctor Foster
Miami, FL – Today at MIPCOM, global content leader BBC Studios announces a deal that gives Globo Group in Brazil exclusive rights to BBC’s longest-running global franchise Doctor Who as well as a host of other content. All current 11 seasons and specials of the British hit sci-fi adventure will soon become available to Globoplay subscribers in Brazil. As part of the deal, the streamer will also be the exclusive home for the upcoming season 12 that sees the return of the first female Doctor, Jodie Whittaker.
In addition to Doctor Who, Globo Group has licensed iconic BBC Studios crime drama Luther, starring Idris Elba, the Richard Gere-led series MotherFatherSon, Press from acclaimed writer of Doctor Foster, as well as Pure starring newcomer Charly Clive, Peter Moffat drama The Last Post, and a variety of documentaries and factual content.
