BBC PODCASTS ANNOUNCES HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED RETURN OF TRUE CRIME HITS “LADY KILLERS” AND “THE LAZARUS HEIST”

New Series “Killing Victoria” Also Debuts This Month

“Lady Killers with Lucy Worsley” Season Two – Monday, March 20th

Hosted by British historian and author Dr. Lucy Worsley, Lady Killers is a historical true-crime podcast series in which Worsley partners with a team of women detectives to investigate the seemingly-ordinary lives – and extraordinary – 100-200 year old crimes of women, from a contemporary feminist perspective.

Over the course of 10 episodes, Lady Killers will unpack eight new centuries-old crimes, including that of Margaret Garner, an enslaved Black woman in Civil War America, and Jane Toppan, a Massachusetts serial killer nicknamed “Jolly Jane.” With the help of experts like Dr. Katherine Ramsland, a forensic psychology professor at Desales University, and Dr. Nikki M. Taylor, professor of 19th century African American history at Howard University, Worsley reveals how these crimes were perceived 100-200 years ago and how they compare to the crimes of today. Worsley and her team aim to shed light on the motivations, minor yet crucial details, and the larger cultural and societal questions these centuries-old crimes raise.

Episode 1 of Lady Killers with Lucy Worsley will premiere Monday, March 20th and episodes will be released weekly on-demand across all major podcast platforms. BBC Podcast Premium subscribers will have early access to episodes and listen freely without ads, BBC Podcast Premium is available exclusively on Apple Podcasts.

“Killing Victoria” – Monday, March 20th

During the 63-year-long reign of Queen Victoria, seven men made the fateful decision to try to kill her. The seven men were within seconds of changing history – each could have brought the Victorian era to a premature end, yet all of them have been forgotten to history.

“Killing Victoria” is a brand-new, true crime podcast series narrated by Dr. Bob Nicholson, historian of Victorian pop culture, that seeks to answer the question of what led these men to try to kill the most famous and influential woman on the planet.

Episode 1 of Killing Victoria will premiere Monday, March 20th and episodes will be released weekly on-demand across all major podcast platforms. BBC Podcast Premium subscribers will have early access to episodes and listen freely without ads, BBC Podcast Premium is available exclusively on Apple Podcasts.

“The Lazarus Heist” Season Two – Monday, March 27th

Following its blockbuster, Peabody-nominated first season, The Lazarus Heist podcast continues an in-depth look at what investigators claim is a secretive ring of elite North Korean hackers. They are nicknamed the Lazarus Group and have now been accused of more bank heists, teaming up with sophisticated dark web criminals. North Korea says it has nothing to do with these cybercrimes, saying the United States is making these allegations to try and tarnish its image.

Hosted by Jean Lee, who opened the first and only US news bureau in North Korea, and Geoff White, an investigative journalist covering tech and organised crime, The Lazarus Heist Season 2 will investigate claims that the hackers have connected with partners in crime around the world. The series begins with the story of a massive heist on ATMs, taking place in 28 countries, on the same day. Investigators say the hackers have now pivoted from robbing banks to stealing from cryptocurrency businesses – and now they’re raking in billions of dollars.

Episode 1 of The Lazarus Heist Season 2 will premiere Monday, March 27th and episodes will be released weekly on-demand across all major podcast platforms. BBC Podcast Premium subscribers will have early access to episodes and listen freely without ads, BBC Podcast Premium is available exclusively on Apple Podcasts.
