BBC First to air King Charles III and the Queen Consort’s Coronations for Canadian Audiences
(Toronto, ON – May 5, 2023) – Tomorrow, on Saturday May 6th, BBC First will broadcast live the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort. This historic broadcast will air from 2:30am – 10am EST for Canadian audiences to enjoy. The live broadcast will cover all the ceremonial events as they unfold throughout the day, from the early military movements to the formal processions, and will give audiences a look at the ceremonial route from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey.
Following the Coronation, BBC First audiences can take a deeper look into British culture and the significance of the moment by watching the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (10am EST), which saw millions tune in to television for the first time; followed by The Queen, starring Dame Helen Mirren (11am EST); Diana, starring Naomi Watts (1:30pm EST); and the entirety of the six-part reality competition series, The Prince’s Master Crafters: The Next Generation, which sees six amateur craftspeople as they learn Heritage Crafts skills, judged by former Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales (4pm – 11pm EST).
