New York, NY – For the first time ever, BBC AMERICA will broadcast the The Britannia Awards, Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 8pm ET as a two-hour special, preceded by The Britannia Awards Red Carpet Special at 7:30pm ET. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles® (BAFTA Los Angeles), which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, held The Britannia Awards presented by BBC AMERICA last night, Wednesday, November 7, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Britannia Awards are BAFTA Los Angeles’ highest accolade, a celebration of achievements honoring individuals and companies that have dedicated their careers to advancing the entertainment arts.
The star-studded gala, hosted by Alan Cumming, honored multi-Academy® and BAFTA Award-winning actorDaniel Day-Lewis who received the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film presented to him bySteven Spielberg, acclaimed actor Daniel Craig who received the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year presented to him by Harrison Ford, Academy® and BAFTA Award-winning director Quentin Tarantino who received the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing presented to him by Roger Corman,Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Emmy Award-winning co-creators of South Park and Tony Award-winning co-creators of The Book of Mormon who received the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy presented to them by Josh Gad,and video game designer Will Wright who received the Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment presented to him by Olivia Munn. The evening’s gala dinner also included a special performance by “American Idol’s” Jessica Sanchez.

Proceeds from the gala ceremony support BAFTA Los Angeles’ on-going education, scholarship, community outreach and archival projects.
