As Senior Vice President, Business Development & Partnerships, Melissa Rubinson is responsible for expanding audiences and increasing revenue for BBC News outside of the UK through impactful partnerships on social, digital, and streaming platforms.
Armed with 15 years of experience driving commercial growth for global news brands, Rubinson joined BBC Studios in May 2023 from Reuters, where she served as Senior Director, Strategic Accounts & Partnerships. In this role, she was responsible for leading a global business development team charged with identifying and negotiating deals with the world’s largest technology and media companies across a variety of business models, including content licensing, off-platform distribution, subscriptions, sponsorships, audience development, and bespoke product partnerships.
Prior to her tenure at Reuters, Rubinson held numerous business development roles at Yahoo! Inc. and Associated Content, a user-generated content publisher acquired by Yahoo! Inc. in 2010. She began her career as an associate producer at CNN.
An alumna of the London School of Economics and the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Melissa is passionate about developing sustainable business models for quality journalism. She lives in Brooklyn and Fire Island, NY with her husband and two children.
