As President, Global Content Sales, Janet Brown spearheads content sales and investment across all regions outside of the UK and is charged with aligning global strategy and operations to drive continued growth for BBC Studios global content business.  

Brown joined BBC Studios in 2022 as President, Content Distribution, North America & Latin America, leading all aspects of the content distribution business in the region, as well as driving the company’s global distribution relationships with the top U.S.-based partners, including networks and streaming platforms, and developing innovative new business solutions to deliver growth. While in this role, BBC Studios orchestrated the global sale of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder to Netflix, which debuted #1 on the global TV list on Netflix, and Brown oversaw the distribution of international hits Doctor Who and Planet Earth III. 

Prior to BBC Studios, Brown served as EVP of Global Distribution and Commercial Operations at Gunpowder & Sky, then part of AT&T/ Warner Media, where she led global content sales, distribution and commercial operations across all rights types and content formats.  

Previously, Brown grew the pioneering indie film distribution company FilmBuff from start-up to established industry player ultimately leading to its sale to Otter Media/ Gunpowder & Sky. Under her leadership, FilmBuff transformed into a one-stop shop for a wide range of content providers by handling worldwide distribution of over 1500 critically acclaimed titles, including theatrical, digital, linear television, international sales, and festival strategy.  

Earlier in her career, she was a strategy consultant for Yahoo! Media Group and headed up research at Cinetic Media in New York. Brown also was part of the media and entertainment strategy consulting practice at Accenture in London where she drove business strategy for clients including News Corp., Warner Music, Film Four, Telewest, and Granada. 

A native of Toronto, Brown received a B.A. Joint Honors in economics and political science from McGill University and an MBA from Columbia University.
